CIPF-UV Joint Research Unit of Cytomics

Cytomics is the discipline that studies heterogeneous cellular systems at the individual cell level, based upon the methodologies of flow cytometry and high content image cytometry. Cytomics, or Systems Cytometry, is oriented to the knowledge of the functionality and architecture of the individual cells and their components, allowing also the generation of highly purified populations of biological cells or particles.

The CIPF-UVEG Joint Research Unit Cytomics continues the activities of the former CIPF-UVEG Joint Research Unit Laboratory of  Cytomics which operated continuously from 2005 to 2015 and allowed the creation of the current Service of Cytomics, developing successfully in these years  various research projects funded by European agencies and national and pharmaceutical companies. This synergy made possible to recruit  expert personnel and advanced technologies in flow cytometry, cell separation and high content analysis, which arenow  applied to the own research lines of the Mixed Unit, mainly in in vitro studies of prediction of toxic risk of chemical compounds. The Joint Unit also develops collaborations with research groups in CIPF, Incliva, La Fe Health Research Institute and other research centers and hospitals of the Valencian Community, as well as with Spanish and European research centers.

The Joint Unit carries out an important task of training in Cytometry, through the organization of national and international face-to-face and online courses.
