Bioinformatics and the computing of biological data are at the root of an ongoing, tangible revolution in modern medicine. Therefore, this program puts the CIPF at the scientific forefront of many fields in terms of its capacity for the management and handling of data streams derived from several different omics techniques.

The scientific objective of the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology program is to relate phenotypes with genotypes (especially as they are most often measured in current clinical settings—through genomic, transcriptomic, methylomic, and metabolomic, etc. sequencing), paying special attention to disease outcomes and responses to drugs.
