Where they are now

Toni Gabaldón  was an EMBO postdoc fellow at CIPF with Dr Joaquin Dopazo. In 2008 he started his own group at CRG, nowadays he is ICREA Research Professor, Comparative Genomics Group Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC-CNS), and Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB).

Fatima Al-Shahrour was a PostDoc fellow at the Centro de Investigación Príncipe Valencia under Dr. Joaquín Dopazo supervision.

In 2008, she got a staff position at Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard as a Computational Biologist working at Dr. MD. Benjamin L. Ebert’s lab at Brigham Women’s Hospital (BWH, Boston). During this period, her research was focused on the study the biology and treatment of cancer under a genomic perspective using hematopoiesis as a model system.

In 2012 she joined the CNIO where she is leading the Bioinformatics Unit

Ethel was a postdoc at the London Research Institute, Cancer Research UK, where she studied genome stability and chromosome segregation. Ethel made fundamental contributions to the genetic inheritance and biology of cohesins during mitosis using budding yeast as a model organism. In 2007, Ethel obtained a Ramón y Cajal Postdoctoral fellow in the Laboratory of Dr. Susana Rodríguez-Navarro at the Príncipe Felipe Research Center in Valencia.

Since 2021 she has been a GenT Distinguished Investigator at the IBV-CSIC where she is Principal Investigator of the cell division and cohesinopathies unit.
