The Príncipe Felipe Research Center (CIPF) with the Discover Program aims to bring biomedical research to young people, promoting the scientific career in Valencia, and thus create future researchers of excellence.

The programme is aimed at students of Secondary Education of first and second year of Baccalaureate and Training Cycles, in the modality of Nature and Health Sciences.

The training period will take place at the facilities of the CIPF from July 1 to 19, 2019.

Search for mutations in Mendelian diseases.

Analysis of gene expression.

Bioinformatics / Biostatistics. Validation of results using bioinformatics tools.

Introduction to animal experimentation.

Cellular and molecular biology. Basic laboratory techniques.

Protein purification.

Guided tour of the facilities, research laboratories and technical units of the center to know the operation of high-tech equipment.


The price of the participation in the Descubre Programme is  600€, being subsidized by the CIPF the amount of 200€, the selected student having to pay only the sum of 400€.

Students who have been beneficiaries of state scholarships for aid in high school will be eligible for a bonus of 50% of enrollment. The CIPF will grant a maximum of 2 scholarships for this Descubre 2019 Programme.

The programme includes diets, both lunches and meals, during the 3 weeks and the schedule is from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. Does not include transfers or accommodation.

Those interested should complete the application form, and it must be sent by email to the address before June 24, 2019 along with the following documentation:

  • Photocopy of the certificate of the academic record.
  • Authorization of the student's mother, father or guardian to carry out the educational and extra-academic activities contemplated within the program (in the case of being a minor).
  • Photocopy of the student's national identity card or passport.
  • Photocopy of the national identity document or passport of the father, mother or guardian (in the case of being a minor).
  • Document accrediting the legal representation of the minor; family book or supporting document.
  • Document accrediting, where appropriate, the obtaining of the state grant of aid of Bachillerato.

By 2019, 12 places will be called.

The selection will be based both on the level of academic performance of the student, attending to the first or second numerical average grade of the Baccalaureate or the Formative Cycle, as well as the writing in the interest and utility of the student to participate in this program.

The selected persons will be notified before June 26, 2019.

The CIPF will send the student, mother, father or tutor of the selected student the detailed program of the training activities, as well as the extra-academic activities to be carried out during the development of the program.

Selected candidates must send the following documents to before June 29, 2019:

Photocopy of the bank transfer for an amount of 400€ or an amount of 200€ for the beneficiaries of the scholarships.

CERTIFICATE: The CIPF will provide the student, after the completion of their stay during the program will be issued a certification of their participation in it.

INSURANCE: The CIPF will be responsible for contracting accident and civil liability insurance that covers students during their stay in the CIPF and in matters of displacement.

PREVENTION OF LABOR RISKS: At the beginning of the program, the CIPF will provide students with information on occupational risk prevention and personal protective equipment.
