Description

Perform research tasks corresponding to the project of the laboratory of Neurobiology. The group is interested in incorporating one person wishing to perform a doctoral thesis on this project.

The research activities of the group aim to advance in the following objectives: identify the mechanisms leading to cognitive and motor impairment in hyperammonemia and minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE); identify mechanisms involved in the interplay between neuroinflammation, cGMP and GABAergic and glutamatergic neurotransmission in hippocampus and cerebellum and how these interactions modulate cognitive and motor function; assess the contribution of hyperammonemia and peripheral inflammation to the mechanisms leading to cognitive and motor impairment in MHE; identify targets to reverse cognitive and motor impairment; design and test in animal models of hyperammonemia and MHE new therapeutic treatments to reverse cognitive and motor impairment.
